About Us
The word Reet means tradition. At Reet, we are all about redefining tradition while connecting South Asian women with their roots.
Reet is inspired by my darjee (paternal grandfather) who was a refugee in the Indian-Pakistan partition. He began his humble roots selling clothes from a street cart in post-partition India. With hard work & perseverance, he eventually expanded to four department stores across the country.
When I moved to the US in 2005, I felt wholly disconnected from my roots in Delhi, India, and it wasn’t until my early 20s, after years of fighting to fit in, till I found a renewed appreciation for my culture through desi outfits, music, and especially jewelry.
Reet is my way of reclaiming my culture and helping other brown girls do the same.
I hand-pick each piece of jewelry to ensure it's made with high quality materials. Each of the potli bags has been designed in collaboration with a woman-owned business right in Delhi, India.
Reet is an homage to the tradition of starting small like my darjee and a way for me to continue on his legacy.
From street cart to add-to-cart.
